William Guy's Story
Mr. William Guy Hathcock, 91, of Winston-Salem, NC died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mr. Hathcock was born in Stanly County, NC, September 16, 1925 to the late Guy and Dot Aldridge Hathcock. He served in the United States Navy for three years during World War II. He retired from AT&T after many years of service.
He was an avid gardener, participating in the Master Gardener Program in Forsyth County. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Alice Cartner Hathcock; one brother, Van Hathcock, Norwood, NC; and a sister, Sarah James, Mocksville, NC.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Taylor Hathcock of the home; his daughter Susan Hathcock, son-in-law Greg Collins, and grandson Will Collins, Westfield; stepdaughter Susie Bumgarner and husband Steve, Charlotte; stepson, Frank Hassell, Greensboro; and stepdaughter Joy Taylor and husband Dennis of Sydney, Australia; step-grandchildren Adam Bumgarner, Alyson Forrester; Brad Hassell, Lydia Hassell; Gregory and Stuart Taylor; step-great-grandchildren, McKenna Hassell and Grayson Forrester; brothers Bob Hathcock, Florence, SC; Burl Hathcock, Norwood, NC; sister Betty McConnell, Thomasville, NC and their spouses and families.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2p.m. in Piner Hall of Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community with a visitation following.
