William "Bill"'s Story

Text size

We note with sadness the passing of William Jennings Joslin, 92, in Denton, N.C. on February 7, 2018. A memorial mass to honor Bills life will be held 3 PM Saturday February 10, 2018 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Albemarle, N.C. An outstanding husband and father and grandfather, and a popular member of his retirement community, he will be missed by many.
Bill was born in Clarksville, Tennessee on October 6th, 1925. After serving in the Army in the Manhattan Project, he graduated from Penn State and moved to work at Standard Oil Corporation in Venezuela. There he met and married Carolyn Joslin, his wife of 61 years. They had three children--Priscilla, David, and Richard--and six grandchildren--Melissa and Amelia, Alexis and Rain, and Kendall and Dixon--whom he loved with devotion and to whom he was a constant inspiration and support.
After almost thirty years in Venezuela, he moved with Carolyn to Pebble Beach, California in 1980. A member of the Carmel Mission Catholic community, Bill was well-loved for his many many acts of faith, hope, and charity.
Bill enjoyed an active social life, playing golf regularly with friends at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club. He and Carolyn traveled widely, from Scandinavia to Australia and to Israel. Most of all, he loved to share a wonderful domestic life with his wife and with his children and grandchildren.
Bill had a wonderful and happy life. He was a person of immense integrity and outstanding character. He encouraged everyone with his example, and warmed everyone with kindness. He will be remembered always with the same love he gave to all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Bills caregivers over the last two and a half years at Trinity Place, 24274 Hwy. 52 S., Albemarle, N.C., 28001 and Mountain Vista Health Park, P.O. Box 1547, Denton, N.C., 27239.
Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care of Albemarle is serving the Joslin Family.
