Ronald Barbee, known by the many people in his life as Ron or "Runt," went to be with his Lord on Nov. 19, 2017.
Ron was born June 12, 1940 to Marvin W. Barbee and Laura Starnes Barbee who preceded him in death.
He married Nancy (aka Deanie) Almond Barbee, his high school sweetheart, who survives him and they enjoyed 57 years together. He is also survived by their son, Ronnie V. Barbee of Locust and daughter, Misti Dawn Barbee of Huntersville.
Ron is survived by a brother Willie W. Barbee of Concord and five Granddaughters, Nickie Barbee Kluttz (Nick) of Concord, Kacie Barbee Stancil (Nick) of Locust, Katie Barbee of Concord, Jodie Barbee of Tampa, FL and Laci Dawn Hart (Garrett) of Raleigh.
His survivors also include Great-grandchildren, Eden, Elyn and Easton Kluttz, Kinsley and Hadley Stancil.
Ron was a born athlete and was a star baseball player before he started school. He was an outstanding player in all sports. He signed a professional baseball contract as a graduate of Stanfield High School in 1958.
Ron later enrolled in the US Army and served in the NORAD Nike Missile division.
His love for sports carried over throughout his life when he later became a good golfer and enjoyed the sport with his family and friends for the rest of his life.
For most of his business life, he worked in management positions dealing with sales and customer service. This culminated in the formation of his own business, Southern Service of Charlotte, a vending and commercial food service business. His wife, son and daughter joined him in the family business.
A private graveside service is planned. Memorials may be made to Mission Baptist Church, Mission Church Road, Locust, NC.
