Murrell's Inlet, S.C - Patsy "Pat" Marlowe Smith, age 80, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Pawley's Island SC.
Mrs. Smith was born September 11, 1936 in Marion, N.C. a daughter of the late Sam Perry and Mattie Taylor Marlowe. A native to North Carolina, Mrs. Smith attended college at Western Carolina University and was a retired legal secretary. She was a gifted pianist and enjoyed sharing her love for music with family and friends. She was active in her home church serving as a member of the choir, choir director, pianist, organizing bible school, and director of Youth and Children. Pat was an amazing cook, and her life was full of love and laughter. It is an impossible task to describe her life and the impact she had on the world in a few sentences. We will miss her greatly, but are comforted knowing she has been made whole and we will be with her again in eternity.
Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John Wayne Smith, Jr., her brother, Sam Marlowe, and one sister, Nancy Marlowe Cochran.
Survivors include her children Betsy Smith Williams (Doug) of Missouri City, TX, Perry Wayne Smith (Heather Till) of Wilmington, NC, and Sally Smith Hogan (Dave) of Murrells Inlet, SC; her sister, Blanche Marlowe Arrowood (Burrell) of Hernando FL; her grandchildren, Kathryn Statler (Brian), Kevin Cunningham, Davis Hogan, and Drew Hogan; her great grandchildren, Owen Statler, Evelyn Statler, and Amelia Statler.
Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Stony Hill United Methodist Church in Albemarle NC with Pastor Lancaster officiating. The family will be attending morning worship service at Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Nebo NC on Sunday, February 19.
