Opal Lillian Harris Mauldin, 96, of Albemarle passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 in Stanly Manor.
Her funeral will be 2 PM Friday, January 19, 2018 in Palestine United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin McCormac and Pastor Boyd Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
Born May 13, 1921 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Martin Harris and Effie Callicutt Harris. She was a homemaker and a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Co. where she worked as a seamstress. She was the oldest living member of Palestine United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class and choir member.
Mrs. Mauldin loved to garden and crochet. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her love was returned many times over by her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Mauldin was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Franklin Mauldin.
She is survived by sons Phillip M. Mauldin and wife Barbara of Albemarle, Chris Mauldin and wife Robin of Albemarle, daughter Vivian R. Maner and husband Burrell of Albemarle, brother Ed Harris and wife Hazel of New London, sister Lucille Poplin of Albemarle, 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A son Eddie F. Mauldin, a brother Willard Harris and sisters Evelyn Medlin and Frances Herrin all preceded her in death.
