Melvin Douglas's Story
Melvin Douglas Huneycutt, 74, of Richfield, N.C., passed away Wednesday, April 05, 2017 in his home.
His funeral service will be 4 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 in the Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel with Rev. Charles Hensley and Mr. Bill Goggin officiating. Burial will follow in the Simpson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. prior the hour of the service at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care.
Born November 26, 1942 in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late Eddie Ervin Huneycutt and Emma Lee Clark Huneycutt. He was a Construction worker with Culp Brothers Stalite in Gold Hill and a foreman with Romeo Guest Company. Mr. Huneycutt was a charter member of South Stanly Baptist Church.
Mr. Huneycutt was survived by his wife Dorothy "Dot" Shue Huneycutt of the home. Other survivors include a son Jimmy Raye Huneycutt and wife Kristy of Richfield, N.C., daughter Lisa H. Barringer and husband Billy of Richfield, N.C., brother William Huneycutt and wife Freida of Oakboro, N.C., sister Esther Aldridge and husband Joe of Oakboro, N.C., three grandchildren Derek Barringer, Aaron Barringer and Ethan Huneycutt, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Ted Huneycutt and two sisters Betty H. Vanhoy and Evelyn H. Chance.
Memorials may be given to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1024 Albemarle Road, Suite 904, Troy, N.C. 27371.
