Louise Almond Hammill, 84, of Richfield passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Bethany Woods Nursing Center.
Her funeral will be graveside, 11 a.m. Tuesday April 11, 2017 in the Richfield Cemetery with Rev. Jim Groome and Rev. Bob Cauble officiating. The family received friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m, at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care.
Born May 25, 1932 in Cleveland, TN, she was the daughter of the late Reuben Almond and Bertie Harper Almond. She retired as the cafeteria manager at Richfield School. Mrs. Hammill was a member of the Richfield United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and President of the United Methodist Women. She lived to serve others and in addition to her service to her church, she delivered Meals on Wheels. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed working with her flowers, especially roses. Mrs. Hammill also loved to watch birds and she loved her dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Guy R. Hammill. Other survivors include son Brian Hammill and wife Kelli of Raleigh and granddaughter Emily Hammill. A brother Leon Almond preceded her in death.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Richfield Cemetery, C/O Richfield United Methodist Church, PO Box 236, Richfield, NC 28137.
