Joyce B.'s Story
Joyce B. Blankenship, 76, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday February 18, 2017 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 1 at 2 p.m. in the Salem United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care. Rev. Steve Combs and Rev. Leonard Maske will be officiating.
Born May 2, 1940 in Richmond County, NC she was the daughter of the late Clarence Dewey Barmer and Annie Lee Johnson Smith. Joyce was an administrative assistant for Sodexo at Pfeiffer University for 25 years and was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Polkton, NC.
She is survived by her husband W. Jack Blankenship Sr. of Albemarle, one daughter, Pamela Bryant of Charlotte, NC, one son, Kevin Hardison and wife Chai of Charlotte, NC, , two step sons, Jack Blankenship Jr. and wife Amanda of Concord, NC and Chuck Dale Blankenship of Kannapolis, NC, one step daughter Rebecca Leeper of Kannapolis, NC, three sisters, Shirley Smith and husband Richard of Salisbury, NC, Carolyn Smith of Huntersville, NC and Phyllis Paul and husband Johnny of Concord, NC, four grandchildren, Jordan Bryant, Jake Bryant, Harmony Blankenship, and Drew Hardison, and one great-grandson, Colby Mauldin.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
