Jeanette Brattain Hartsell, 86, of Locust, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Jeanette was born February 20, 1931 in Stanly County to the late Marshall Dewey Brattain and the late Sadie Ada Eudy Brattain. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Houston Hartsell, who passed away in 1994; and brothers, Junior and Rayvon Brattain.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Locust. The funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Dr. Tommy Ross Jr.. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheri Huneycutt and husband Eric of Locust; son, Steve Hartsell and wife Karen of Midland; sisters, Loretta Barbee and Ray of Locust, Nancy Eudy of Locust; brothers, Jerry Brattain and wife Becky of Locust, Harlan Brattain and wife Kay of Locust,; grandchildren, Andrew Huneycutt of Locust, Jared Hartsell and wife Carrie of Charlotte, and Kema Hartsell of Stanfield; great-grandchildren, Haylee Furr, and Wyatt and Will, Jr.
Jeanette was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She retired from Cannon Mills as a weaver after 40+ years of dedicated service, and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Locust. Jeanette enjoyed bird watching, canning, and baking. She was especially known for her famous oatmeal cookies and cakes.
