Mrs. Jean Eastridge Mullinix of Albemarle passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Central United Methodist Church in Albemarle. The family will visit with friends in the Family Life Center following the service.

Jean, a native of Carroll County Virginia, was born on January 10, 1931 to the late Rina Lou and Joseph Eastridge. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, William Nathan Bill Mullinix, Jr.; sisters, Wilma Lee and Hazel Marie Eastridge; brothers, Gleason Arly and Ingram Eddie Eastridge; and grandson Noah Tucker Overbey.

Jean was first and foremost a selfless and devoted mother to her three children, wife to adored husband Bill, and perfect Maw Maw to her grandchildren. Her greatest joys were having her loved ones around her. She was happiest doting on them and Bill. She adored her family and they adored her. She served the Lord as a faithful and active member of Central UMC for many years. Her church and congregation were important to her and she cherished many close friends there. Jean also enjoyed her professional career in banking. Working as a loan officer for many years, she loved meeting many local residents.

An avid flower and vegetable gardener and lover of all things in nature, Jean loved to spend time outdoors. Jean and Bill spent many happy years and much time at the family farm in Montgomery County where they loved to watch the change of seasons, garden, and watch nightfall as they sat and talked from the front porch rockers. Jean and Bill were quite the dancers immensely enjoying Ballroom dancing. Dear friends taught Jean the game of Bridge in her later years and the time she spent with her Bridge group and friends at the Senior Center was time she cherished.

Survivors include son, William Nathan Mullinix III (Tara) of Michigan; daughters Mary Lynn Overbey (Jim) and Julie Ann Lea (Darrell) all of Greensboro, NC; dearly loved grandchildren; William Harrison Mullinix, Thomas Edwin Mullinix, Anna Jane Overbey, Caroline Barrett Lea and Mary Margaret Reynolds Lea.

Jean cared deeply for others and will be remembered for her ready smile and sweet spirit. Her enthusiasm for life and fierce loyalty will be deeply missed by her many friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 172 North Second Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
