Dorothy Jean Morris Earnhardt
February 22, 1929 - February 23, 2018
The Golden Bells Rang for Dorothy Jean Earnhardt, "Dot", who was gently taken by the hand of her Lord and led over into her eternal home on Friday, February 23 rd, just one day following her 89th birthday. Although a native of Albemarle, Stanly County, NC, she was residing in Yorktown, Va. She was the caring wife of Theodore G. Earnhardt (Pig) for over 70 years.
Dot was born in Stanly County, NC, on February 22nd, 1929 to the late Ronnie and Eula Morris.
She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Ray, Harvey, Jimmy and Roger, and 4 sisters; Edith, Lilly, Peggy and Lula.
She was a loving housewife and mother to three children; Brady Earnhardt and wife, Linda, of York County, Va.; Saundra Earnhardt Ray and husband, C.A. Ray, of Flagpond, Tenn.; Timothy Earnhardt and wife, Becky, from Hartfield, Va.; and ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many special friends.
Dot and "Pig" returned to Albemarle, NC., after his retirement from the Newport News Shipyard in 1980, where they enjoyed gardening, playing cards, visiting with friends and eating out at Jay's In The Country and Handi-Mart. She was an active member of First Street United Methodist Church for many years and a member of the United Methodist Women.
The family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb 28th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m., at Stanly Gardens of Memory, by the Reverend Monty Clark. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Marsha and Richard Swanner, 1005 Northbrook Street, Albemarle, NC.
