David Aro's Story
David Aro Bruton Jr., 82, of Crossville, TN, died on Friday, June 30, 2017 after a brief illness.
He was born in 1935 in Albemarle, N.C. to David Aro Bruton and Marguerite Mae Whitley Bruton.
A graduate of Duke University, he worked for several years in North and South Carolina for the Insurance Company of North America before starting his own agency in Memphis, TN.
A successful businessman, he was also a lifelong athlete and sportsman, with a love for hunting, fishing, and boating.
He was also a devoted husband and father, and those who knew him will miss his quiet confidence, gentle sense of humor, and kind words and actions. During his final year he devoted himself selflessly to caring for his wife Carolyn, whose illness required constant attention.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Jane Lyerly Bruton, of Albemarle, NC; his sons Scott and David, of Crossville, TN.; and brothers George Bruton of Charlotte NC and John Bruton, of Boones Mill, VA.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday July 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. CT at Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church, 130 Towne Centre Way, Crossville, TN, 38571.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Church in his name.
