Ashley Goodwin's Story
Little River, SC - Ashley Goodwin Wood, 47, of Little River, SC passed away at her home Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Ashley was born September 1, 1970 to the late Peggy Helms Goodwin and the late H. Clark Goodwin of Monroe, NC. Ashley spent most of her childhood in Albemarle, NC but graduated from Monroe High School in 1988. She graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a B.S. degree in Recreational Therapy.
Ashley made a life and career of joyfully taking care of others. She was employed by Rehab Without Walls as a Rehabilitation Specialist for clients in and around Little River, SC. She provided not only excellent physical care for her clients, but also ensured that each one understood their worth by taking the time to really know them. Through the sharing of her sweet spirit, sense of humor, and open nature she lightened their lives and most assuredly improved their quality of life.
Ashley Wood will be remembered for her infectious laugh that illuminated her love for life and her love for whoever was near her. Ashley also loved animals and cared for every one she encountered as if it were her own. Her favorite place to be was in the sun at the sea spending time with her favorite person: her daughter Mia.
Ashley is survived by her husband Cody Wood of Little River, SC and their daughter Mia Wood; stepmother Cynthia Freeman Goodwin of Monroe, NC; siblings Eric (Michele) Goodwin of Charlotte, NC; Jason (Christa) Wall of Charleston, SC; Stephanie (Colby) Rankin of Mount Pleasant, SC; brother-in-law Robert Wood of Greensboro, NC; nieces and nephews Gray Goodwin, Anna Kate Goodwin, Elizabeth Rankin, Harrison Rankin, Sara Wood, Calvin Wood, and Tessa Wood. She is preceded in death by her parents H. Clark Goodwin and Peggy Helms Goodwin of Monroe, NC.
The celebration of Ashley Goodwin's life will be at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, NC on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 1 p.m. A time of visiting will follow in the church fellowship hall. Donations in Ashley's memory can be made to the Humane Society and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
