Annie Ruth Smith Luther, 83, of Norwood, passed away on Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 22, 2017 at 2:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Nathan Fox will officiate and interment will follow at Norview Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.
Ann was born on May 17, 1934 in Stanly County to the late Lawrence Matthew Smith and Cornelia Ellen Carpenter Smith. A member of Norwood First Baptist Church, she loved the Lord and through her sweet and loving spirit, many others were inspired to accept Jesus as their Saviour. Ann enjoyed cooking and loved to bake cakes and pies for her family and friends. Spending time with her family, laughing, and telling stories were among her favorite past time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Buck Luther; brothers James, Lennox, Robert, and Spencer Smith; sister, Mary Kate Smith Bowers; and grandson Chase Luther.
She is survived by her son, Dale Luther (Franna) of Roswell, GA; and daughter Carla Luther Doby (Yancey) of China Grove; granddaughter Reagan Underwood; grandsons Eric Underwood, Cameron Luther, Jamin Davies, and William Davies. She was also blessed with five great-granddaughters; Jade and Salem Underwood, Riley Luther, Lily and Margaret Davies; four great-grandsons, Roman Luther, Liam, Jack, and Pax Davies; two brothers, Melville Smith(Margie) of Norwood and Lawrence Smith of Oakboro.
